Bitchin' in the Kitchen

So today has been a complete disaster in my kitchen.  I do not know if I should laugh or cry, but I do know I am about to pour myself a BIG glass of wine.  I was making a loaf of bread this morning.  It looked and felt fine.  It rose beautifully in 45 minutes and then I placed it in the oven.  I am not sure but I think I have an evil kitchen gnome who snuck into my oven and punched down one side of the bread.  Not only did it look horrible, but there was a wet/gummy line on the bottom of the loaf.  How is i

CHRISTMAS DINNER MENU

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! I apologize for the delay in getting this menu out to all of you.  Things have been crazy on this end.  I am always behind in the holiday season, but this year it is beyond ridiculous.

Holiday Baking Series

I would just like to take a moment to thank a few people for making the Holiday Baking Series a possibility.  First off, thanks to Liv Hansen for being a part of our Holiday Baking Series.  She is such a talented artist and makes the most beautiful desserts.  They are so pretty that you actually feel guilty eating them, but once you take that first bite, you get over it very quickly!  We learned so much from her and hope that all of you enjoy the videos.  We love playing with the chocolate method (or almond bark method) in our house.  If you can trace, you

Hope Everyone Had a Great Thanksgiving!

I do not know about all of you, but while we had a great Thanksgiving, I am happy to be out of my kitchen for a few days.  Thanks so much for all of the kind words on the List-Serv.  It is nice to have dishes for the whole family to share.  It really is the point of Cook for Love. I really appreciate you taking the time to write your e-mail - that is the way we can get more people on the site.  We are at 950 members - we got over 100 new people over the past two weeks.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Listed under this is the Game Plan to help organize your holiday.  You can print it out by clicking on the little printer icon.  Each dish in this feast has been developed to share with everyone.  I promise you that no one will even notice that these recipes were developed for a special diet -- they will just know they thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

Some of the recipes are definitely for a more "sophisticated" palate and probably not for your average toddler or young child.  When Molly was younger, we made the plain mashed potatoes, a veggie finger (the nugget recipe, shaped like a "chicken" finger), broccoli, carrots, biscuits and stuffing.  As she got older, the dishes became a bit more fancy.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  If you have questions, please ask them before Tuesday.  At that point I, too, will be swamped in the kitchen.

If you found these recipes were something you enjoyed, then please consider making a donation to Cook for Love.  We can only continue our efforts if we are supported by the community we are dedicated to serving.

Here is the Game Plan!

Happy Cooking!

Thanksgving Menu Coming Soon...

Hi Everyone,
Thanksgiving is fast approaching.  A Thanksgving Menu and a survival guide will be up on the site midweek.  The recipes are ready to be published, the web programmer needs to upload the pictures and link the recipes.  Hopefully we will have the funding to purchase the software soon.  When that happens, I will take a class and figure out how to format and upload the pictures myself.

Sweet Swap at Westchester Medical Center

Hi Everyone,
If anyone in the NY area is interested, Westchester Medical Center is having a Low Protein Sweet Swap on Wednesday, November 11th, starting at 3:30.  It is at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, in the main conference room on the ground floor (near the Giant Teddy Bear before the main entrance).  It typically goes on for about 2 hours.
Let me know if you are planning on coming so I know how much food to make!
Hope to see you there,
Brenda

Halloween

Hi Everyone,
First off, I would like to thank everyone for helping to make this site such a success.  We are almost at 700 members in just a little over two months.  Not too shabby for a rare disorder!

With Halloween coming up, I thought it might be a good idea to get a sense of how people have handled the whole situation with the diet.  I know there are some newer parents out there who are trying to figure out how to make it a special day for their child.
