Everything! Cook for Love launched on August 19th, 2009.
We think we worked out the kinks found during our test launch. If you see a problem, would you mind dropping us an e-mail and the web developers will fix it?
What a crazy and exciting year it has been for us. Cook for Love faced many challenges, including but not limited to the filing of an excessive amount of paperwork to get us up and running (yuck!) and having formula spilled on the laptop that stored most of the recipes (teaching us the importance of backing up information). While a little behind schedule, we are thrilled that we are finally up and running. Our recipes were hand calculated for phe content, but we are in the process of having them analyzed for more complete nutritional information. We will add recipes on a monthly basis and film as many video demonstrations as we can get funding for. We hope you enjoy the site! Let us know what you think.

GMP as an option for people with PKU: Like many people with PKU, Molly has always struggled with the fact that she has to take her formula three times a day, every day – no exceptions. For that reason I am so excited by the research being done by Denise Ney, a professor of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with the use of GMP as a medical formula/food option for people with PKU. From my understanding, they figured out a way to remove the phenylalanine from whey protein, resulting in a more natural and complete source of protein (and most importantly more palatable). Cambrooke Foods (love you guys) is already working on a formula product line to include GMP. Please click here for information from Cambrooke Foods.

update: we sampled some of Cambrooke's GMP line at a MACPAD event in PA and LOVED it! Molly even said she would drink a glass like rice milk with a cookie! The bar was also great and will be so convenient to send to school. I really believe this line will revolutionize the way Molly views her formula. We cannot wait until it is available to the community.
Speaking of options, how exciting is it to have a FDA approved drug to help in the treatment of PKU?
Kuvan has changed the lives of many with PKU and we are so grateful to BioMarin for their efforts to help our community. Please click here for an overview of Kuvan and PEG-PAL from BioMarin.
